This year marks the 50th anniversary of the end of the Johnson administration. Join us for a discussion between Joseph A. Califano, Jr., and Matt Malone, S.J., on the legacy of President Johnson.

Joseph A. Califano, Jr., served as President Lyndon Johnson’s chief domestic policy assistant from 1965 to 1969 and as U.S. Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare in the Carter Administration. He is Founder of The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University.

Did Johnson start the ball rolling in the wrong direction for the Black community? Is that his legacy? Or is it the Vietnam War? Or is it the tax cut that spurred the economy?
